The best team offsite in Marbella doesn’t happen in a meeting room. It happens on the water — where a group turns into a crew, the phones go in a bag, and the only thing on the agenda is the horizon. Here’s how corporate sailing days work with Moon Sailing, and why they land better than another hotel conference package.

Why sailing works for team building

A sailboat is the rare setting that is relaxing and quietly cooperative at the same time. There’s just enough to do — trimming a sail, taking a turn at the helm, dropping anchor for a swim — that people naturally fall into roles and start helping each other, but there’s no pressure to perform. No slides, no forced icebreakers, no name tags. By the time you’re anchored in a quiet cove with lunch and the engine off, the team is talking like people again rather than job titles.

It’s also a change of scale. From the water you see the whole coast — Puerto Banús to the west, La Concha rising behind Marbella — and small office frictions tend to shrink accordingly. Most groups come back calmer and closer than any conference room could manage in a full day.

One boat, or a whole fleet

Moonstone, our Bavaria 36, takes up to 7 guests — ideal for a small team. For bigger groups we coordinate a small fleet so everyone sails on the same day, at the same time, as one experience:

  • 3 boats — up to 21 guests
  • 4 boats — up to 28 guests
  • Up to 7 guests per boat
  • All boats sail together, anchor together, and finish together

The boats stay within sight of each other, raft up side by side at the swim stop, and return to Puerto Deportivo de Marbella together — so even a group of 28 feels like one crew rather than four separate outings.

What a team sailing day looks like

Every day is shaped around the group, but most follow the same easy rhythm:

On arrival: meet at Puerto Deportivo de Marbella, a short welcome and safety briefing, then step aboard. Drinks are already on ice.

Out of the harbour: sail along the coast with the sails up. Anyone who wants to help can take the helm or trim a sheet; anyone who doesn’t can sit back with a drink and watch Marbella go by.

The anchor stop: drop anchor in a calm cove for a swim, a paddle, and lunch on deck. This is where the day opens up — no schedule, just time on the water together.

Sailing back: a relaxed return to port, usually the quietest and best part of the day.

Choosing the length

Team days run 2, 3 or 4 hours, and the right length depends on what you want the day to be:

2 hours — an after-work reward or a sunset sail to close a conference day. Enough for a proper sail and a drink on deck.
3 hours — the middle option: real swim time, food and drinks, no rush.
4 hours — a proper half-day, with a longer sail, a full anchor stop and lunch. The favourite for celebrations and milestone days.

What’s included

  • Private boat (or fleet) with a professional skipper on each
  • Multilingual hosting — Captain Luna welcomes guests in Spanish, English and French
  • Coordination of the whole fleet for larger groups
  • A route and pace adapted to the weather, the group and the duration
  • An invoice for your company, with a deposit to confirm the date

Catering, drinks packages, photography and other extras can be arranged on request — just tell us what the day is for.

The best time of year for a corporate sail

May, June and September are the sweet spot — warm, long days, calm water, and easier to book than mid-summer. July and August are beautiful but busy, so reserve well ahead. April and October still sail on the right day and are quieter and better value. Because a fleet needs several boats and skippers lined up, the earlier you tell us your date, the more we can guarantee.

Practical answers

How many people can you take?
Up to 7 per boat, and up to 28 across a fleet of four. Larger than that? Tell us — we can sometimes arrange more with notice.

Do we need any sailing experience?
None at all. The skipper handles everything; guests do as much or as little as they like.

Can you invoice our company?
Yes — we issue a proper company invoice with VAT, and a deposit confirms the booking.

What if the weather turns?
Safety comes first. If conditions don’t allow it, we reschedule or refund — we’ll never put a group out in the wrong sea.

Which languages do you host in?
Spanish, English and French, on board.

Plan your team’s day at sea.

Tell us your group size and your preferred date, and we’ll organise the boats around you. See the full team building sailing experience, or message us on WhatsApp to start planning. Private, up to 28 guests, on the water in Marbella.
